Commonly assumed
PointLight defaults decay to 1 for linear attenuation, treats power as an independent property in Watts, and interprets distance=0 as disabling light emission.
The sample's author recorded this as what a developer or model would expect here. The contract below is what actually ran.
Contract
- PointLight defaults decay to 2 (physically correct inverse-square falloff) and distance to 0 (infinite cutoff distance), while dynamically calculating luminous power in lumens as 4*pi times luminous intensity in candela.
- PointLight power setter updates intensity to power / (4 * Math.PI), and intensity mutations update power to intensity * 4 * Math.PI.
- PointLight automatically initializes a PointLightShadow with a 90-degree 1:1 PerspectiveCamera for cubemap shadow projection, which is cloned independently on light.clone().
- PointLight serializes color as hex, intensity, distance, decay, and shadow to JSON, allowing ObjectLoader to reconstruct an equivalent PointLight instance.
