• Ambiguous utilities like text-[var(--size)] and font-[var(--family)] resolve CSS variables to color and font-weight properties by default, requiring explicit length: or family-name: data-type casting to generate font-size and font-family declarations
• text-[--font-size] auto-wraps in var() and emits color, whereas text-[length:--font-size] emits font-size
• font-[--brand-font] emits font-weight, whereas font-[family-name:--brand-font] emits font-family
• bg-[--hero] emits background-color, whereas bg-[image:--hero] and bg-[length:--size] emit background-image and background-size
• border-[--line-width] emits border-color, whereas border-[length:--line-width] emits border-width
• bare underscores in arbitrary values convert to spaces while escaped underscores remain literal underscores
• math operators in calc() arbitrary values are automatically normalized with surrounding whitespace
