• Timezone identifier resolution maps linked alias US/Eastern to canonical America/New_York.
• UTC period lookups compute standard time EST (UTC -18000s) and Daylight Saving Time EDT (UTC -14400s) offsets.
• Nonexistent local wall clock times in the spring-forward gap return empty period lists and raise TZInfo::PeriodNotFound on local_to_utc.
• Ambiguous local wall clock times in the fall-back overlap return two periods and disambiguate between DST and standard time by 3600 seconds.
• Country lookups resolve ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 metadata and associated timezone identifiers.
