Contract

  1. semver.major extracts numeric major version component from semver strings and throws TypeError for invalid versions
  2. semver.minor extracts numeric minor version component from semver strings and throws TypeError for invalid versions
  3. semver.patch extracts numeric patch version component from semver strings and throws TypeError for invalid versions
  4. semver.prerelease extracts prerelease component array with string and numeric identifiers
  5. semver.prerelease returns null for non-prerelease versions and invalid version strings
  6. semver functions support loose option for parsing prefixed and whitespace-padded versions
