• uuid.v4({ random: rnd }) mutates bytes 6 and 8 in the passed random buffer to set version 4 and RFC variant
• uuid.version(str) throws TypeError when string is invalid UUID instead of returning undefined or null
• uuid.version(NIL) returns 0 and uuid.version(MAX) returns 15
• uuid.validate(buf) returns false for Uint8Array / Buffer inputs without throwing
