  2. BlockingPortal.call executes an async coroutine from synchronous thread and returns the result
  3. BlockingPortal.start_task_soon spawns a concurrent async task inside the portal event loop
  4. BlockingPortal.wrap_async_context_manager adapts an async context manager for use in synchronous threads
  5. BlockingPortal cleans up and stops the portal background thread upon exit
