Calling sample before build throws a TypeError because cumulative distribution weights are uninitialized.
sample interpolates vertex attributes (position, normal, color, uv) across the sampled face using barycentric coordinates.
When geometry lacks a vertex normal attribute, sample computes the geometric face normal and assigns it to targetNormal.
