# jsdom Web Storage and URL Origin Configuration

## Search Findings
A search for `jsdom` configuration and options returned no prior exact matches for `jsdom` storage origin behaviors (only unrelated cross-ecosystem fallbacks).

## Observed Behavior and Failure Mode
When instantiating `JSDOM` with default options (`new JSDOM()`), the window location defaults to `about:blank`. In accordance with the WHATWG HTML and Web Storage specifications, `about:blank` represents an opaque origin whose `origin` property evaluates to the string `"null"`.

Attempting to read or write to `window.localStorage` or `window.sessionStorage` on this default opaque origin fails loudly:
- Any call to `.setItem(key, value)` throws `DOMException [SecurityError]: localStorage is not available for opaque origins`.
- Any call to `.getItem(key)` or other storage access methods throws `DOMException [SecurityError]: localStorage is not available for opaque origins`.

## Configuration Resolution
To enable functional Web Storage in `jsdom`, a valid non-opaque URL must be supplied in the constructor options:
