jest-watcher 30.4.1: JestHook, TestWatcher, BaseWatchPlugin

Verified sample for npm jest-watcher 30.4.1: JestHook, TestWatcher, BaseWatchPlugin. The contract ran on node 22 · linux alpine/x64 · docker and passed.

This network offers one thing: a sample that builds. It ran the sample in a sandbox and kept the signed receipt. It grades nothing and warrants nothing — whether the same code builds where you are is not something it measured. How many distinct signing keys filed a passing contract receipt. One is the author alone; more than one means somebody else built it too. A key is self-generated with nothing registered behind it, so it counts keys, not people. MIT-0

Execution evidence

The declared environment and the signed runs are kept apart, so you can see exactly what this sample ran and where.

Contract

  1. JestHook isUsed reports false initially and true when a listener is registered for a hook
  2. JestHook emitter onFileChange invokes all registered onFileChange subscribers with the file system object
  3. JestHook emitter onTestRunComplete invokes all registered onTestRunComplete subscribers with the aggregated results
  4. JestHook emitter shouldRunTestSuite returns true when no listeners are registered or when all listeners return true
  5. JestHook emitter shouldRunTestSuite returns false when any sync or async listener returns false
  6. TestWatcher tracks watch mode and initial uninterrupted state
  7. TestWatcher setState updates interrupted state and emits change event
  8. BaseWatchPlugin provides default plugin lifecycle methods and KEYS defines standard ANSI key sequences
  9. Prompt manages interactive input buffer, callbacks, and entering state
  10. Prompt handles backspace, CONTROL_U, and ESCAPE cancellation

# jest-watcher `JestHook`, `TestWatcher`, `BaseWatchPlugin`, `KEYS`, and `Prompt`

## Prior Solution Search
`search_known_solution` returned `REFERENCE_ONLY` for `pkg:npm/jest-watcher@29.7.0`, targeting the upgrade and verification of `pkg:npm/jest-watcher@30.4.1`.

## Pinned Release
- `jest-watcher`: `30.4.1`

## Observed Behavior

When interacting with Jest's watch mode hooks, watcher runtime, and interactive prompts in `jest-watcher`:

1. **`JestHook` Registration and Lifecycle Dispatch**:
   - `JestHook` provides `getSubscriber()` for registering test lifecycle callbacks and `getEmitter()` for dispatching events.
   - `isUsed(hookName)` returns `false` initially and dynamically reports `true` once at least one listener is registered for `'onFileChange'`, `'onTestRunComplete'`, or `'shouldRunTestSuite'`.
   - `emitter.onFileChange(fs)` synchronously dispatches exposed filesystem project paths to all registered subscribers.
   - `emitter.onTestRunComplete(results)` synchronously dispatches aggregated test run metrics to all registered subscribers.
   - `emitter.shouldRunTestSuite(suiteInfo)` asynchronously evaluates all registered predicate functions via `Promise.all`. If no subscribers exist, it defaults to `true`. If any predicate returns or resolves to `false`, the suite run is suppressed (`false`).

2. **`TestWatcher` State Management**:
   - `TestWatcher` extends Emittery to provide reactive watch mode state tracking.
   - Constructor receives `{ isWatchMode: boolean }`, retrievable via `isWatchMode()`.
   - `state` initializes to `{ interrupted: false }`.
   - `setState(state)` updates the internal state and emits an async `'change'` event with the updated state dictionary.

3. **`BaseWatchPlugin` and `KEYS`**:
   - `BaseWatchPlugin` acts as the base class for Jest watch mode plugins, implementing default stubs for `apply()`, `getUsageInfo()`, `onKey()`, and `run()`.
   - `KEYS` maps standardized ANSI escape codes and terminal keystroke sequences (`ARROW_UP`, `ENTER`, `ESCAPE`, etc.).

4. **`Prompt` Interactive Input Buffer**:
   - `Prompt` manages interactive terminal input handling with `enter()`, `put()`, and `abort()`.
   - `isEntering()` indicates whether the prompt is currently capturing user input.
   - Supports keystroke processing including `KEYS.ENTER`, `KEYS.ESCAPE`, `KEYS.BACKSPACE`, and `KEYS.CONTROL_U`.

Clean-room public code sample — generation instructions

Write a brand-new, minimal, self-contained code sample in this clean-room directory.
Do not copy, paraphrase, or reference any existing project source. Work only from this spec.

A csx.json manifest scaffold already exists. Do not recreate it from memory. Preserve its case.goal, packages and symbols; fill its empty case.contract with exact assertions and correct its environment, commands and verifierAdapter for the files you generate.

Goal: verify pkg:npm/jest-watcher@30.4.1
Kind: HOW

Use EXACTLY these public packages and versions:
  - pkg:npm/jest-watcher@30.4.1

Rules:
  - One focused purpose; the smallest project that proves the goal.
  - Include a contract test (test/contract.*) that runs OFFLINE and exits 0 exactly when the goal behavior works.
  - Pin every dependency with a lockfile so resolution is reproducible.
  - No secrets, credentials, or tokens. No real URLs (only example.com or localhost). No absolute paths.
  - No personal names, emails, company names, or project identifiers of any kind.
  - No binaries and no generated output (node_modules, dist, target, venv, .git, .env).
  - Keep it under 200 files and 256KB packed.
