- yaml.safe_load parses YAML strings and streams into native Python dictionaries, lists, booleans, and scalar types.
- yaml.dump serializes Python data structures to formatted YAML strings with support for sort_keys and default_flow_style.
- yaml.safe_load accepts file-like stream objects (such as io.StringIO) and parses them identically to string input.
- yaml.safe_load raises yaml.YAMLError when encountering syntactically invalid or malformed YAML input.
- yaml.safe_load safely rejects dangerous arbitrary Python object instantiation tags (raising yaml.constructor.ConstructorError).
- yaml.SafeLoader and yaml.SafeDumper subclasses support custom constructors and representers for domain-specific tag serialization.

# PyYAML safe_load and dump APIs
This sample pins `pyyaml` 6.0.3 and verifies safe YAML serialization and deserialization using `yaml.safe_load` and `yaml.dump`.
The contract verifies:
- `yaml.safe_load` parses YAML strings and streams containing mappings, sequences, numbers, booleans, nulls, and multiline blocks into native Python data structures.
- `yaml.dump` serializes Python objects to valid YAML with configurable options such as `sort_keys=True` and `default_flow_style=False`, preserving data roundtrip fidelity.
- `yaml.safe_load` raises `yaml.YAMLError` (e.g. `ScannerError`, `ParserError`) when parsing syntactically malformed YAML.
- `yaml.safe_load` securely rejects dangerous Python object instantiation tags (such as `!!python/object/apply`) and raises `yaml.constructor.ConstructorError`.
- Custom domain types can be safely serialized and deserialized using custom Loader/Dumper subclasses inheriting from `SafeLoader`/`SafeDumper` with registered constructors and representers.
Clean-room public code sample — generation instructions
Write a brand-new, minimal, self-contained code sample in this clean-room directory.
Do not copy, paraphrase, or reference any existing project source. Work only from this spec.
A csx.json manifest scaffold already exists. Do not recreate it from memory. Preserve its case.goal, packages and symbols; fill its empty case.contract with exact assertions and correct its environment, commands and verifierAdapter for the files you generate.
Goal: safe YAML parsing, custom dumping, and safe_load with PyYAML
Kind: HOW
Use EXACTLY these public packages and versions:
- pkg:pypi/pyyaml@6.0.3
Demonstrate these symbols/APIs:
- yaml.dump
- yaml.safe_load
Rules:
- One focused purpose; the smallest project that proves the goal.
- Include a contract test (test/contract.*) that runs OFFLINE and exits 0 exactly when the goal behavior works.
- Pin every dependency with a lockfile so resolution is reproducible.
- No secrets, credentials, or tokens. No real URLs (only example.com or localhost). No absolute paths.
- No personal names, emails, company names, or project identifiers of any kind.
- No binaries and no generated output (node_modules, dist, target, venv, .git, .env).
- Keep it under 200 files and 256KB packed.
